Difference Between A WeChat Service Account and Subscription Account

While WeChat has been successful in building a giant user base, its platform is still relatively newer and people aren’t used to it. It has a new interface with newer features that take some time to be fully understood, one of them being the types of accounts provided by WeChat.

While registering, companies can choose between a subscription account and a service account. Individuals, however, can only register a subscription account.

Here’s an overview of the differences between Subscription accounts and Service accounts.

Complex Marketing

Subscription accounts are only aligned towards pushing more content without any special features. This is the most basic account feature which only allows the company to interact with their user base through this unitary method.

Service accounts have a much bigger array of features when it comes to complex marketing and audience interaction. It provides the company with advanced features like interactive menus and e-commerce.

Broadcast Messages

Subscription accounts have a limit of just one broadcast message per day.

Service accounts can send 4 messages per calendar month

In general, each publication broadcast can consist of up to 8 articles.

Push Notifications

The user base of companies with a subscription account does not receive push notifications since updates are published in the user’s ‘subscription’ folder.

The user base of companies with a service account will get regular push notifications since they are published directly in the user’s feed.

Custom Menus

While individual accounts do not get a dedicated menu, subscription accounts must use an API to get a preset menu for their interface.

Service accounts, on the other hand, have support for a custom menu for clearer interaction.

Payments

Subscription accounts don’t have any features to facilitate payment.

Service accounts have support for external payment APIs.

Conclusion

The outline suggests that subscription accounts are quite useful for news channels and companies that provide a solution instead of a tangible product. Service accounts are more suited for e-commerce businesses and companies that want to build an effective customer base and sell tangible products.
